“I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing.” – Socrates
Rodin Banica
photographer + director
I don’t really believe I’m the wisest man alive, but I try to approach my work as if I know nothing. I observe and listen more than I talk. I ask questions. I watch how people move. I’m adept at reading emotions, even when they aren’t so apparent on the surface. Empathy is a word that I think a lot about.
Whether it’s an intimate setting where it’s just me photographing one person or a large commercial production with a crew of 30 people, it comes down to connecting with people on the most basic human level. My strength as a photographer and director lies in my ability to put people at ease so they let their true selves come through. This, in turn, leads to candid, intimate, and emotionally revealing moments that propel the story forward.
As a New York-based freelance photographer with over two decades
of experience, I have a thorough understanding of styling people,
lifestyle images, portraits, and entertainment, enjoyed by the technical
an aspect of creating lighting and the attention to detail that he dedicate
to capture distinctive images.
As a professional photographer with extensive international
experience, Rodin communicates fluently in English, French, Italian and
Romanian. His dedication to quality is reflected in the images that he
have produced for clients in New York and Paris, for Moschino,
Valentino, Dion Lee, Son Jong Wan, Theia bridal, Michael Kors,
Carolina Herrera, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Proenza Schouler, Prabal Gurung
and many more.
Currently, Rodin’s work consists of fashion editorials, retail catalogs, still life, product launches
and award shows. I pride myself on my ability to deliver assignments within the most delicate
and sophisticated environments.
